New Delhi, August 26, 2025 – Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India has officially released the much-anticipated Activa Electric, the company’s first major foray into the EV two-wheeler segment. India’s leading scooter will have an electric variant for ₹1.17 lakh (ex-showroom) merging timeless design with tech of the future.
Familiar Design, Electric Heart
As for now, the Activa Electric’s design will still keep the conservative look of the petrol version so that it does not alienate the millions of existing users. EV-specific elements like the blue color accents, the altered front grille, and the all-digital speedometer garnish its EV heritage while retaining the Activa family resemblance.
Range and Performance Details
The standout feature here is the claimed 102 km range on a single charge, especially for commuters. Honda has fitted the scooter with a fixed battery pack that will take just a bit over 5.5 hours to fully charge with a domestic socket. For city riding, the motor delivers a buttery performance with a focus on efficiency, rather than speed.
Features Focused on Everyday Riders
The Activa Electric comes with useful features aimed at everyday riders. Silent start, reverse assist, regenerative braking, and real-time battery and ride data sharing via smartphone. The company has also added another safety feature with the combined braking system (CBS). Furthermore, the convenient trunk storage that the petrol powered Activa featured is still present, showing that practicality was not sacrificed with the switch to electric.
Market Strategy and Competition
Honda is trying to break into the market dominated by Ola Electric, TVS iQube, and Bajaj Chetak EV. Although, they are planning to use the trust gained from the Activa brand name alongside the servicing locations Honda offers to help bring in consumers. Although the launch price is somewhat more than other competitors, it is believed by many that Honda’s trustworthiness and servicing will make the price worthwhile.
Rollout and Accessibility
The Activa Electric will initially be sold in the metro areas with a target date of September. They will then be gradually expanding to the Tier 2 and 3 areas by early 2026. Honda will also be providing supporting documents that show charging stations will be set up at the dealerships, further supporting early adopters. The electric Activa will not only be a game changer for Honda, but also for the rest of the industry. With the Activa name already known as a legend in the Indian scooter market, the electric version will further increase the popularity of EV’s in India. With an easily available, dependable, and well-known product, Honda is making sure the transition for buyers from petrol to electric vehicles is easier.
